Another highly rated Médoc gem. The Chateau Vieux Robin 1996 is a superb wine from this amazing vintage.
WINE
The Chateau Vieux Robin is emerging from a 'closed' state, i.e. had become almost inert and uninteresting as it got used to being bottled. It is now starting to evolve and is currently very soft and gentle early on and then builds to a superb concentrated cassis mouthful, very harmonious with a good tannic structure meaning that its ageing potential is good also. Decanter Magazine describes Chateau Vieux Robin as having a "warm, friendly, spicy palate."
The Vieux Robin 1997 is about ready now, will be fully mature in a year and will keep for another 7-8 years.
